6. Super Smash Bros Wii U Game Settings and Rules

6.1 Game version: EU Nintendo Wii U

6.2 Game Settings: 2 Stock, 6 Minute Time Limit, Custom Moves Off, Items Off, Equipment Off, Handicap Off, Pause Off, Damage Ratio 100%, 2/3 Games

6.3 Mii Fighters On (1-1-1-1 Default Miis)

6.4 Amiibo’s are banned.

6.5 Starter Stages: Battlefield (Miiverse), Final Destination, Lylat Cruise, Smashville, Town & City

6.6 Counterpick Stages: Dream Land 64, Duck Hunt

6.7 All Omega stages are banned.

6.8 First stage is decided by (Rock Paper Scissors) best of 1. Winner strikes, then loser strikes twice, then winner. (1-2-2-1)

6.9 Following stages decided by winner banning one stage from all stages and then loser choosing.

6.10 Winning player is not locked into the same character for the next match, but has to pick before loser selects character.

6.11 You may not choose a stage you have already won on unless mutually agreed to.

6.12 You may not play on a stage that is not on the available stages list. This will result in a double disqualification.

6.13 Maximum allowed time between games is 60 seconds. Any player violating this rule will be issued a loss.

6.14 Sudden Death with a tied percentage/stock count will NOT determine the outcome of a tied game. A playoff match with 1 stock/2 minutes will determine the winner.

6.15 There will be no loading anything on to the tournament consoles.

Introduction and Purpose

These are the Rules (“Rules”) for the Super Smash Bros Wii U tournament at eSports.je, they apply to all of the players in eSports.je Summer 2017. Super Smash Bros Wii U for eSports.je Summer 2017 will be divided into three stages:

Stage 1: Events at eSports.je Hub

Stage 2: Double Elimination Knockout Tournament at eSports.je Hub

Stage 3: Double Elimination Knockout Finals held at the Digital Jersey Hub

During Stage 1, players can earn seeding points towards Stage 3 by attending eSports.je Super Smash Bros Wii U events, the top 4 point holders will receive automatic placement into Stage 3.

During Stage 2, players will be placed into a tournament bracket. The tournament will be double elimination with games running on dates defined in section 5.2.2. The Final 4 players in the knockout bracket will head onto Stage 3. It is possible that Stage 2 will be broken over 2 or more events to accommodate the number of players.

During Stage 3, the 4 top seeds from Stage 1 and the 4 finalists from Stage 2 will comprise the players selected to compete for the title of Champion. This will be a in a double elimination knockout tournament.

 

1. Player Eligibility

To be eligible to compete in eSports.je Summer 2017, each player must satisfy all of the following conditions:

1.1 Player Age

No player shall be considered eligible to participate before his or her 16th birthday, defined as having lived 16 full years.

1.2 Regional Residency Requirement

1.2.1 Resident Defined. For purposes of this Rule 1.2, a player is deemed to be a "Resident" of Jersey if such player has legally resided and been primarily present in such region for no less than twenty-four months out of the thirty-six months immediately prior to such players' participation in the first game of the applicable tournament

1.2 Exceptional Circumstance

1.2.1 Should a player not meet this criteria and still wishes to participate, special dispensation may be granted by eSports.je, however such approval must be seeked prior to the player registering.

 

2. Payments to Players; Prizes

2.1 Event Prizes

During Stage 3 players shall have the opportunity to earn prize money based on their level of performance in the event. This amount will be paid in full to the player, distribution of funds elsewhere will not be deemed a responsibility for eSports.je.

2.2.1 Place Prizes

The prize pool for winning Stage 3 will scale depending on the total amount of players that have entered. Should 8 or less players compete in all Stages, the prize for winning Stage 3 will be £60. This will increase by £5 for each additional player that plays in any stage up to a maximum of £100.

The player finishing in Second place in Stage 3 will be awarded £30.

3. Player Rules

3.1 Player Ownership Restriction

No Player or Affiliate of an Player may own or control, directly or indirectly, or have a direct (e.g., ownership) or indirect (e.g., a contractual arrangement) financial interest, or be an employee or contractor of, more than one Super Smash Bros player. Any buyback provision, right of first purchase, or similar interest in a team shall be treated as a controlling interest in such player for the purposes of enforcing ownership restrictions.

3.1.1 Sale of Sponsorship and Related Issues

Any Player may only sell or manage sponsorship or brand elements for themselves with which he or she is affiliated.

No person or entity may hold the naming right to more than one player at a time. A sponsor that holds naming rights to a team may not sponsor other players in the tournament in any capacity.

3.2 Player Names

Player Names may include upper-case letters, lower-case letters, numbers 0-9, underscores, or single spaces between words only. Player Names must not exceed 12 characters including spaces. Player Names may not contain: vulgarities or obscenities; or other similar character names; or derivatives of products or services that may create confusion.

3.3 Sponsorship

A competing player has the ability to acquire sponsors. Sponsorship acquisition is unrestricted. If the sponsor falls under the ensuing limited categories then the sponsorship may not be displayed by the players during the use or play of Super Smash Bros, adjacent to Super Smash Bros related material, or any eSports.je events. eSports.je officials have the ability to update the category list at any time. The following is a nonexclusive list of limited sponsors:

3.3.1 Gambling Websites: defined as any website that aids or abets the wagering of funds on a sporting/esporting event and/or allows for the wagering of funds in casino games including poker.

3.3.2 Non-“over-the-counter” drugs

3.3.3 Account sharing/skin selling websites

3.3.4 Firearms, handguns, or ammunition providers

3.3.5 Websites displaying or related to pornographic imagery or products

3.3.6 Products or services from direct competitors

3.3.7 Tobacco products

3.3.8 Teleco Providers

4. Player Equipment

4.1 eSports.je Provided Equipment

eSports.je officials will provide equipment in the following categories to eSports.je players for all Stage matches:

4.1.1 Wii U with Super Smash Bros for Wii U and Screen

4.1.2 Table and Chair

4.1.3 GameCube Controllers

4.2 Player-Owned or Team-Owned Equipment

Players are allowed to provide equipment in the following categories, which are owned by themselves or their teams, into the match area and use such equipment during official eSports.je matches:

4.2.1 Official Wii U Pro Controller

4.2.2 Official Wii-Mote and/or Nun-Chuck

4.2.3 3DS to be used as a controller

4.2.4 Official GameCube Controller

All eSports.je provided equipment shall be chosen, selected and determined at the sole discretion of eSports.je.

4.2 Replacement of Equipment

If equipment or technical problems are suspected by eSports.je officials at any time, a player or eSports.je official may request a technical review of the situation. An eSports.je technician will diagnose and troubleshoot problems, as needed. Technicians may request that eSports.je officials order replacement of any equipment, at their discretion. Decisions regarding the replacement of any equipment are solely at the discretion of eSports.je.

4.5 Equipment Tampering

Players may not touch or handle another player's owned or provided equipment after a match has started. Players who require assistance with their equipment should ask assistance from an eSports.je official.

 

5. Venue, Competition Area Layout, and Schedule

5.1 Wireless Devices. During Stage 2, wireless devices, including mobile phones and tablets, must be powered off while the players are involved in active play, including during pick/ban phase and between games of multi-game matches.

7. Media and Image Requirements

7.1 Player Requirements

7.1.1 Each player that reaches Stage 3 will be required to have a photo taken for use on the live stream, failure to adhere to this may result in a disqualification.

7.1.2 Players reaching Stage 3 may be required to attend a live interview at the Digital Jersey Hub prior and post any games held for a Questions and Answers segment during the live stream, failure to attend these may result in non payment of any prize money earned during game play.

 

7.1.3 Players are required to pose for pre and post game photographs, failure to do so may result in non payment of any prize money earned during game play.
